A chartered professional accountant and a licensed public accountant, Oscar earned his Bachelors of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) from Ryerson University. Prior to leading Bateman MacKay’s assurance and advisory team, he supported a broad range of industries, including manufacturing and distribution, engineering, retail, healthcare, construction, investment, private foundations, charitable organizations, and start-up companies. Today he offers his clients a wide range of services including accounting, assurance, taxation, and business advisory services.
Originally from Colombia, Oscar came to Canada permanently in 2000, catapulting himself into a career in finance with determination and a strong work ethic. Focused and goal-oriented, he strives to always do more than is expected of him, especially for his clients. His satisfaction lies in seeing small and medium sized businesses thrive, growing from start-ups to mature businesses. Leading with empathy and a personal approach, he cultivates authentic relationships and prides himself on offering advice that makes a difference in his clients’ lives, preserving their wealth and developing personalized succession plans that leave them feeling confident.
Mentorship is integral to Oscar, who shares his experiences and wisdom with Canadian and international students at multiple institutions, including Ryerson University and Seneca College. He is a registered mentor with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, supporting and advising students pursuing their CPA designation. At Bateman MacKay, Oscar works extensively with business owners from the Spanish community, newcomers to Canada, and international companies, imparting knowledge to help them thrive.
With young daughters at home, Oscar describes himself as a family guy. In his downtime, he enjoys travelling, reading, fishing, and attempting to play golf.
