Beware of Email and Telephone Scams
CRA warns that people have been receiving communications from individuals claiming to be CRA agents, demanding personal information such as credit card, bank or passport information. Exchanges of this type of personal information can lead to identity or financial theft.
A legitimate CRA representative will provide you with a Reference # and their phone number where you may call them back. If you are unsure about whether a call is from CRA, you may call the CRA directly at the following numbers:
Business Window 1-800-959-5525 or;
Individual Taxpayers 1-800-959-8281
In the case of any unsolicited call, do not provide any personal information over the phone or through email.
