On Friday, January 14th, our annual State of the Union (“SOU”) was held. At our SOU, the entire Firm gathers (virtually for the second year in a row) to review the previous year, celebrate successes, recognize staff and look to the future. Like many small businesses, staffing changes and COVID challenges made 2021 a year of challenge for Bateman MacKay and, we are thrilled to share highlights from 2021 with our clients and community.
We were honoured to host Mr. Jesse Wente as this year’s SOU keynote speaker. Mr. Wente is the Co-Executive Director of ISO-BEA, Chair Canada Council, and Author of UNRECONCILED. He engaged with our team in our learning about reconciliation and other Indigenous issues in Canada. For the next 20 days, you can view his emotional, educational and powerful keynote presentation to our firm here.

Our upcoming personal tax organizer is forthcoming. We were optimistically hoping to see many of you in person this tax season. However, as another COVID-19 wave peaks, we will continue to request documents electronically through our secure Client Portal and conduct meetings virtually. We hope we can celebrate in person later this year.
Thank you for your continued support throughout 2021. We hope that our relationship has made a positive impact on you last year and we are looking forward to working with you.
