A member of the Malta Institute of Accountants, Richard’s tenacity and adaptability in business and life is rooted in his experience coming to Canada in 1999. Knowing nobody, he began his career in finance and taxation with little more than persistent determination and self-discipline. He began his career at a small Toronto firm after writing his Canadian exams. He is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario.
Early in his career, Richard focused on building his experiences and knowledge, quickly earning a reputation among clients for providing honest, detail-oriented advice that is clear and understandable, giving them the tools to make financial decisions. He thrives on the creativity taxation offers, using up-to-date legislation to find opportunities, solutions, and strategies to present to his clients. Understanding his client’s needs is at the centre of Richard’s work. An expert communicator, he prides himself on accountability and his superior level of responsiveness.
When Richard isn’t at his desk, you might find him seated at his drum kit playing the instrument he fell in love with at 13. He plays and records original music as a member of a heavy metal band and he has an affinity for seeking rare vinyl at local record stores. He’s also passionate about sports, volunteering to coach his two children’s sports teams, including helping to lead a gold-medal team in lacrosse. He is a passionate and experienced traveller. Dedicated to giving back to the local community, Richard prides himself on mentorship, sharing his experiences with others. He’s a past Board Director of Performing Arts, Burlington and was a Cabinet Member of the United Way Burlington Campaign in 2011 and 2012.
