The Canada Recovery Hiring Program applications are available now, in addition to an online calculator to determine the best subsidy for each business.

Originally announced as a part of the 2021 Federal Budget, the Canada Recovery Hiring Program (CRHP) applications opened on July 7th. The CRHP is designed to complement the phase out of the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) and Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS) by providing eligible employers with a subsidy for increased wages compared to wages paid from March 14, 2021 to April 10, 2021. The CRHP is in effect until November 20, 2021.

The CRHP aligns with previously established four-week claim periods used for the CEWS. Both programs are available from June 6, 2021, until September 25, 2021 (claim periods 17 to 20), at which point only the CRHP is available. During these overlapping claim periods, eligible employers can only apply for one of these programs. It is therefore advisable to apply for the program that provides the higher amount of support. To determine which program is better, the Federal Government has created an online CRHP calculator, which integrates the CRHP and the CEWS, to automatically show applicants which subsidy will provide them with more financial support.
