Michael is a Licensed Public Accountant (“LPA”) and a Chartered Professional Accountant (“CPA”) in both Ontario and Alberta, as well as a Certified Financial Planner (“CFP”).
At Bateman MacKay, Michael is responsible for all aspects of audit, review and compilation engagements, from initial planning and budgeting of the engagement to completion of fieldwork, through to the preparation of financial statements and corporate tax returns. He displays a strong knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises and Accounting Standards for Not-For-Profit Organizations.
Throughout his career, Michael has worked predominantly with small and medium-sized private companies and their owners. He has extensive experience in assurance, auditing, tax, finance and banking across a wide variety of sectors, including investment companies, transportation businesses, automotive dealerships, manufacturing industries, retail and hospitality businesses, and medical and dental practices.
Prior to joining Bateman MacKay, Michael worked at several large and mid-sized public accounting firms, as well as at one of Canada’s largest chartered banks.
Michael graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) degree. A strong believer in education and learning, he returned to university and obtained his post-degree studies in business from Wilfrid Laurier University.
In his spare time, Michael enjoys photography and travelling.
