Position Summary 

Bateman Mackay LLP is currently recruiting a full-time Tax Associate join our Tax Team. This hybrid role is based out of our Burlington office as well as weekly work from home days.

The Tax Associate position will appeal to a candidate with a strong desire for continued learning and developing their tax knowledge and skills, with a view to assisting with tax consulting work.

Education:     CPA Designation is an asset

Experience:   2 years tax season experience preferred

Role Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of:
    • Various compliance including:
      • T1s
      • T2s, including foreign reporting requirements
      • CRA T1 review response letters
      • Corporate review response letters
      • T1 adjustments
      • T3/T4/T5s
      • Assist with compiling data for tax audits
    • Voluntary disclosures
    • Notice of objections
    • Taxpayer relief applications
    • Capital dividend elections
  • Assisting with technical tax research
  • Working with clients to obtain information
  • Assisting Accounting Team with tax questions
  • Working with senior tax associate/manager on various tax projects

Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written skills, with acute attention to detail
  • Keen interest in continued learning and professional development
  • Contribute to team success and foster a collaborative work environment
  • Proficient in MS Office, QuickBooks, Simply Accounting and TaxPrep
  • Results oriented, organized, prioritizes workload and takes ownership of file
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask, while maintaining a high level of accuracy

Other Considerations

  • Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check is a requirement of this position;
  • Credit Check is a requirement of this position;
  • Must be legally qualified to work in Canada;
  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.
