Hybrid Role

Position Summary 

Bateman Mackay LLP is currently recruiting a full-time Senior Tax Associate join our Tax Team.  This hybrid role can be based out of our Burlington office as well as weekly work from home days.

The Senior Tax Associate position will appeal to a candidate with a very strong tax compliance background and a desire to further develop skills and gain experience in tax consulting, corporate reorganizations and estates and trusts.

Education:     All CPA exams completed

Experience:   3 years tax season experience in Public Accounting required;  Indepth Level I preferred

Role Responsibilities

  • Review of:
    • Various compliance including:
  • Complex T1s
    • T2s, including foreign reporting requirements
    • T1 review response letters
    • Corporate review response letters
    • T1 adjustments
    • T3/T4/T5 Amendments in off peak season (when no co-ops available)
    • Tax audits & helping compile data
    • GST/HST as well as other indirect tax matters as necessary
    • Voluntary disclosures
    • Notice of objections
    • Tax payer relief applications
    • Capital dividend elections
  • Assisting with technical research
  • Working with clients to obtain information
  • Investigating discrepancies in tax accounts
  • Assisting Accounting Team with tax questions
  • Mentoring and overseeing the work of Junior/Intermediate Tax Associates
  • Working with Manager, Tax, Senior Manager, Tax and Tax Partner to complete tax reorganizations, tax elections and other tax consulting projects

Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written skills, with acute attention to detail
  • Keen interest in continued learning and professional development
  • Contribute to team success and foster a collaborative work environment
  • Proficient in TaxPrep, online tax software
  • Tax research tools (Wolters Kluwer preferred), MS Office, Quicken, QuickBooks, and Simply Accounting
  • Results oriented, organized, prioritizes workload and takes ownership of file
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask, while maintaining a high level of accuracy

Other Considerations

  • Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check is a requirement of this position;
  • Credit Check is a requirement of this position;
  • Must be legally qualified to work in Canada;
  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.
