Position Summary 

Bateman Mackay LLP is currently recruiting a full-time Manager, Tax Compliance join our Tax Team.  This hybrid role can be based out of our Burlington or Mississauga office as well as weekly work from home days.

The Manager, Tax Compliance position will appeal to a candidate with a very strong tax compliance background in personal tax, corporate tax and estates and trusts.

Education:     All CPA exams completed & obtained CPA Designation.

Experience:   5+ years tax season experience in Public Accounting required.

Role Responsibilities

  • Review of work prepared by junior / intermediate tax associates, including:
    • Various compliance:
      • Complex T1s
      • T2s, including foreign reporting requirements
      • T3/T4/T5s
      • Adjustments for all tax return types
      • T1 review response letters
      • Corporate review response letters
      • GST/HST as well as other indirect tax matters as necessary
    • Voluntary disclosures
    • Notice of objections
    • Tax payer relief applications
    • Capital dividend elections
  • Independently responding and assisting with CRA Audit files (corporate, HST, payroll, etc.)
  • Technical research
  • Assisting Firm Accounting Team with tax questions
  • Working with clients to obtain information
  • Provide daily coaching, mentoring and support to Junior/Intermediate Tax Associates

Skills and Qualifications

  • Understanding of tax rules including but not limited to Association rules, TOSI, SCI and designated partnership rules.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written skills, with acute attention to detail
  • Keen interest in continued learning and professional development
  • Contribute to team success and foster a collaborative work environment
  • Proficient in TaxPrep, online tax software
  • Tax research tools (Wolters Kluwer preferred), MS Office, Quicken, QuickBooks, and Simply Accounting
  • Results oriented, organized, prioritizes workload and takes ownership of file
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask, while maintaining a high level of accuracy

Other Considerations

  • Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check is a requirement of this position;
  • Credit Check is a requirement of this position;
  • Must be legally qualified to work in Canada;
  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.
