Position Summary 

Bateman Mackay LLP is currently recruiting a full-time Senior Tax Associate to join our Burlington office Team at 5096 South Service Road, Burlington, ON.

The Senior Tax Associate position will appeal to a candidate with a very strong tax compliance background and with a desire to further develop skills and gain experience in corporate reorganizations and tax consulting.

Education:      All CPA exams completed

Experience:    3-5 years experience in Public Accounting; Indepth Level I preferred, but not required

Job Responsibilities

  • Review of:
    • Various compliance including:
      • Complex T1s
      • T2s, including foreign reporting requirements
      • T1 review response letters
      • Corporate review response letters
      • T1 adjustments
      • T3/T4/T5 Amendments in off peak season (when no co-ops available)
      • Tax audits & helping compile data
    • Voluntary disclosures
    • Notice of objections
    • Tax payer relief applications
    • Capital dividend elections
  • Assisting with technical research
  • Working with clients to obtain information
  • Investigating discrepancies in tax accounts
  • Assisting Accounting Team with tax questions
  • Mentoring and overseeing the work of Junior Tax Associate
  • Working with Tax Manager and Tax Partner to complete tax reorganizations, elections and other tax consulting projects

Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written skills, with acute attention to detail
  • Keen interest in continued learning and professional development
  • Contribute to team success and foster a collaborative work environment
  • Proficient in MS Office, Quicken, QuickBooks, and Simply Accounting
  • Results oriented, organized, prioritizes workload and takes ownership of file
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask, while maintaining a high level of accuracy
