In the interest of the health and safety of our team members, clients and the public, Bateman MacKay LLP has made the decision to temporarily close both our Burlington and Mississauga offices until further notice. This decision was made notwithstanding our status as an essential service as designated by the government of Ontario. Provided our clients send us their information electronically in a timely manner, we expect to complete all of our clients’ personal income tax returns by April 30th irrespective of the one month personal income tax filing deadline. Our clients will then have a better understanding of their tax refund or obligation (in addition to future tax instalments) which assists with their cash flow management needs. You may still reach your Bateman MacKay Business Advisor via their office phone number, which has been forwarded to their personal phone, or call our main office line for any general queries. Our Mississauga office has closed temporarily and our Burlington office is closed to visitors with the majority of staff working from home. Team members can still be reached via their email or Bateman MacKay phone number.
The most effective and efficient way to send documents is to scan and digitally send documents directly to your account manager.
If Mississauga client documents cannot be sent electronically, or by mail to the office. Any mail sent to the office will be collected throughout the week and any client documents will be scanned and sent to the appropriate team member.
If Burlington client documents cannot be sent electronically, they can still be dropped off in containers just inside our office doors, which are monitored and scanned/circulated to the appropriate Bateman MacKay team member regularly.

With coronavirus (COVID-19) dominating headlines, we feel it prudent to share our action plan should there be any type of event or situation that requires us to alter our regular business operations. The Public Health Agency of Canada has currently assessed the public health risk as low for Canada. Out of an abundance of caution, we have developed policies to ensure the continuity of service to our clients, including meeting all tax deadlines, and the safety of our team members, clients and business partners in case the current situation continues to worsen.
Steps Already Taken
To promote a healthy work environment and do our part to limit the spread of COVID-19, we have already taken and in the process of adopting the following precautionary actions:
- We have increased the frequency and depth of cleaning of the high-touch areas in our offices.
- Personal hand sanitizers have been given to all staff and larger bottles of hand sanitizer are placed in our reception and kitchen areas. We have always maintained hand sanitizer stations in the hallway between our restrooms.
- We are encouraging our team members to practice “social distancing” inside and outside the office.
- We have encouraged all staff to work from home in case of any illness.
- We are restricting face-to-face client meetings and are strongly encouraging use of our conference call facilities, phone meetings, Microsoft Teams and other video conferencing applications in lieu.
- We are encouraging our team to avoid large group gatherings in addition to travel abroad to regions more broadly affected by COVID-19.
Closing the office to visitors
In this case, any meetings would be cancelled and only Bateman MacKay team members will be allowed on site. Any documents are to be sent electronically through our ShareFile system or via direct courier mail. Any meetings can take place via phone or online via Microsoft Teams voice or video chat.
Possible Requirement to Close our Offices
Should we be required to close our offices, any documents may be uploaded to us through our ShareFile system. For any documents that need to be sent physically, clients will reach out to their account manager to arrange direct courier options. Any meetings can take place via phone or online via Microsoft Teams, voice or other video conferencing applications.
Additionally, all team members would work from home via our VPN and cloud server system. All of our team members’ work phone numbers would be forwarded to team members’ home or mobile phones.
This plan of action is designed to cause as little disruption as possible to our clients, while keeping our employees and their families safe. For all of our team members, clients and business partners, we recommend using the precautions outlined by Health Canada including proper handwashing. We will continue to monitor this situation closely and release updates as appropriate.
