At Bateman MacKay LLP, in addition to our corporate tax, accounting and business advice we focus on making our offices healthy places to be. In line with these efforts, and to potentially save a life in the most serious of cases, we have added Automated External Defibrillators (AED) to both our Burlington and Mississauga offices. These AEDs are portable deceives, designed to be used by non-medical personnel, in instances of sudden cardiac arrest, a condition in which the heart stops beating. For every minute following sudden cardiac arrest where intervention, like an AED, is not provided, the victim’s chances of survival fall 7-10%. While we hope they never need to be used, the investment in AEDs and training on their use are just another facet of Bateman MacKay’s emphasis on having healthy offices and may one day save a life in the offices or the surrounding area.
