Gary Bateman, a pioneer in the development of the (CCRA Scientific Research
and Experimental Development) Tax Credit guidelines, with extensive experience
and a strong foundation in tax laws is a leader in the area of tax consulting.
Gary's engineering background is an invaluable resource in consulting
with clients on tax incentives in the Research and Development arena.
His Engineering degree and its point of view and experience are of particular
benefit when dealing both with the client’s technical staff and
with the CCRA during critical technical discussions. Gary assists clients
to identify and document technical expenditures, prepare and review Corporate
Tax Returns, and recognize areas for optimum compliance.
Personal Financial Planning and Trust/Estate Taxation
As a member of The
Estate Planner's Council of Toronto and the International Society of Trust
and Estate Practitioners, Gary advises clients in the area of Personal
Financial Planning and Trust or Estate Taxation. This focus includes executive
and employee remuneration from the perspective of optimising the worldwide
income tax concerns of both the company and its employees and also the
family dynamic of Estate Planning.
Teaching and Presenting
As a founding member of the Tax Specialist Group and author of “A
Declaration of Taxpayer Rights”, and “Guide to the Taxation
of R&D Expenses”, Gary is a highly qualified teacher and presenter,
renowned across Canada. He currently teaches for the Ontario Chartered
Accounting Institute and the Ontario Government’s Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
Additionally, Gary has written and presented
tax-focussed updates for the C.A. industry and the Tax Executives Institute,
as well as performing formal teaching in the McMaster University MBA program.
